Lahore: A meeting held at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore office on Wednesday reviewed progress on retrieval of illegally occupied state land across Punjab and finalized a future roadmap for restoration of such land to government ownership.
The meeting was jointly presided over by NAB Deputy Chairman Sohail Nasir and Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman. Senior officials in attendance included Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Nabeel Javed, Prosecutor General Accountability Syed Ehtisham Qadir, NAB Lahore Director General Mirza Faran Baig, Advocate General Punjab Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, Member Colonies BOR, DG Operations NAB Amjad Majeed Aulakh and DG NAB Multan Asim Lodhi. Commissioners of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha and Bahawalpur divisions, along with senior NAB officers, also participated.
The meeting was briefed that the consolidated status of state land recovered, mutated in favour of the government and identified for resumption has reached approximately 15,667,577 kanals, carrying an estimated market value of Rs 4.37 trillion.
It was noted that, as a result of NAB’s coordinated efforts and robust enforcement strategy, a substantial volume of state land has been successfully retrieved from illegal occupants across Punjab. The forum resolved that all recovered land would be formally restored to government ownership and utilized strictly in the larger public interest.
Participants further agreed to intensify legal action against land grabbers, ensure sustained institutional vigilance and strengthen mechanisms for transparent and tamper-proof land record management to prevent future encroachments.
NAB Deputy Chairman Sohail Nasir conveyed the appreciation of Chairman NAB to the Chief Secretary Punjab and the Senior Member Board of Revenue for their cooperation and commitment to safeguarding state assets. He reiterated that illegal occupation of government land would not be tolerated under any circumstances and affirmed NAB’s resolve to continue action against land mafia with renewed determination.
The meeting concluded with participants commending NAB’s performance and reaffirming their collective commitment to eliminating illegal land occupation through sustained and coordinated efforts.
