Sukkur: In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling, the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Department, under the directives of Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, seized a large quantity of narcotics in two separate operations in Rohri here on Monday.
AETO Qamaruddin Siyal led the operations, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.
In the first operation, 25 kg of high-quality charas was recovered from a Prins Pearl car near SIUT Hospital, Rohri. The suspect, Islam Khan, was arrested, and a case has been registered under the Narcotics Act at NPS Rohri Circle.
In the second operation, 24 kg of charas was seized from an Alto car on Abra Link Road, Kandhira. Three suspects, Owaid Ahmed, Waseem Ahmed and Muhammad Athar, have been arrested and a case was registered under the Narcotics Act at NPS Rohri Circle.
Excise and Narcotics officials stated that the operations were part of the zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, as directed by Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla. AETO Qamaruddin Sial emphasised that actions against drug smugglers would continue, and efforts would be made to protect the youth from this menace.
