Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to designate Model Sahulat, Sahulat on the Go, and all Sahulat Bazaars across the province as Ramazan bazaars during the holy month of Ramazan.
The decision was announced during a meeting on Ramazan preparations chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt, here on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Food Safety and Consumer Protection Dr. Kiran Khurshid, Deputy Secretary Khalid Naeem, Director General PEMRA Tariq Ali Basra, and other senior officials.
Addressing the meeting, Salma Butt said the move aims to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential food items for consumers during Ramazan. She added that separate sections will be established in the bazaars for sugar, flour, chicken, and ghee, where these commodities will be available at prices lower than the open market. She noted that advance planning has been completed to ensure a continuous supply of flour throughout Ramazan, with all flour mills in Punjab brought on board for this purpose.
SACM Salma Butt directed that representatives appointed by deputy commissioners and food safety officers coordinate daily before the start of Ramazan to maintain smooth supply of essential items at affordable rates throughout the month. She emphasized that providing maximum relief to the public during Ramazan is the government’s top priority and assured that all necessary arrangements will be completed in a timely manner.
