Chichawatni: A joint squad comprising officials of the Agriculture Extension Department, PERA Force and the Environment Department visited various villages as part of the anti-smog awareness campaign and action plan. The team educated rice farmers about avoiding the burning of crop residues and adopting measures to help control smog.
The joint awareness campaign is being conducted under the anti-smog awareness and action plan and on the directives of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement) Adnan Rashid. Under the supervision of Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Dr. Tahir Javed, the squad visited various villages, where meetings were held with rice growers and farmers were briefed through a farmer training programme about the harmful effects of smog and practical measures for its prevention.
On the occasion, farmers were advised to use Kubota harvesters for rice harvesting so that crop residues could be managed more effectively. They were urged not to burn rice straw under any circumstances and instead use Super Seeders and other modern agricultural machinery to incorporate crop residues into the soil, thereby helping reduce environmental pollution and smog.
Officials of the Agriculture Extension Department, PERA Force and Environment Department expressed their resolve to continue creating awareness among farmers under the anti-smog campaign and to ensure compliance with government directives.
