Hyderabad: A fire in a makeshift market gutted dozens of stalls and thatched huts selling a variety of items in Khursheed Chowk in Kotri SITE area, Jamshoro district, late on Thursday night.
The spokesman of Rescue 1122 informed that 5 fire tenders took around 2 hours to extinguish fire which, according to an estimate, burnt between 40 to 50 stalls and thatched huts.
Deputy Commissioner of Jamshoro Ghazanfar Ali Qadri told the media that they were assessing the scale of damage.
He added that once the assessment was completed the district administration would approach the provincial government for compensation.
The local traders whose entire businesses were reduced to ashes during an almost 4 hours long fire claimed of having sustained hundreds of millions of rupees in losses collectively.
Fortunately no human casualty occurred because the fire sparked after the market’s closure.
