Gujrat: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the directions of Deputy Director PFA Sadia Rafat, inspected 44 food businesses across Gujrat district during an enforcement drive against food safety violations and imposed fines totaling Rs93,000 on five food outlets.
According to official sources, PFA teams issued 20 improvement notices to food businesses over various violations during the inspections.
The authority also collected four food samples for laboratory analysis and discarded one kilogram of expired food items to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
The PFA said inspection drives and legal action against violators would continue across the district to ensure the provision of safe, quality and hygienic food to the public.
