SIALKOT:Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Zulqarnain has said that foolproof security arrangements were made for majalis and processions during fist 10 days of Muharram.
He said that all measures were taken for repairing streetlights and cleaning the routes of Imambargahs and processions. He said cold drinks and food were also provided to participants in majalis and processions.
He said Municipal Corporation/Committees and District Council officials performed their duties very well, while Police and Chenab Rangers, besides Civil Defence, Rescue Wardens and Rescue 1122, served people with complete diligence.
DC Zulqarnain said that the district police monitored the processions with the help of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, while the traffic police implemented an alternative traffic plan on the routes of processions. He said that for monitoring processions, the federal and provincial ministers and senior officials also cooperated with the district administration in carrying out security and admin
istrative affairs. He thanked Allah Almighty that no untoward incident occurred in Sialkot district during the Ashra [first 10 days of Muharram]. In this regard, the district peace committee played an important role and all outstanding issues and disputes were handled amicably.
He said that Sialkot Waste Management Company (SWMC) sanitation and solid waste department, local authorities of encroachment, GAPCO, Sui Gas and PTCL also played their role in the clearance of the routes and in this regard, the citizens and especially the business community also followed the instructions for the security of the processions.
