District

PESHAWAR: Former Provincial Minister Wajid Ali Khan on Tuesday reiterated that Governor Rule and Emergency have been imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after failure of former PTI Government to control terrorism and extremism in the province.

In a statement here, the ex-minister said that terrorists were attacking law enforcement agencies, police and civilians while Ex CM Afridi was standing on a container for several days to achieve political objectives.

He said the Federal Government was left with no other option but to impose emergency and Governor Rule under Articles 232 and 234 of the 1973 Constitution.

He claimed that the ex-PTI Govt was advocating for a seperate anti terrorism policy and Pakistan like other countries, can not afford two anti terrorism policies.

He welcomed formation of the 11-member Advisory Council that would help assist KP Governor in running Govt affairs in the province.

Wajid Ali Khan said the KP Apex Committee that met yesterday, co-chaired by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, expressed strong resolve against terrorists and their facilitators.

He expressed the hope that security situation in the 12 restive districts where emergency was enforced would improve soon.

He said people of khyber Pakthunkhwa observed Youm-e-Nijat after PTI Govt was made non-functional.

Wajid Khan said PMLN was the only party that could take the province out of existing challenges.
