Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Sunday said that historic and fundamental steps were being taken to strengthen the healthcare sector and provide the best possible medical facilities to the masses across the province.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the minister emphasized that all available resources were being utilized to ensure the provision of quality healthcare facilities to the people. He noted that the revolutionary initiatives of the provincial government were being implemented effectively in the health sector.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, Khawaja Salman Rafique shared that free treatment facilities worth more than Rs 18.5 billion had so far been provided to patients through selected government and private hospitals under various special health programmes.
Sharing specific figures regarding kidney patients, he stated that more than 2.2 million dialysis procedures had been provided to patients under the provincial government’s special dialysis programme.
“According to the latest data, a total of 2,210,065 dialysis procedures have successfully been completed under the initiative so far,” the minister added.
He further informed that the government had also paid Rs 11.656 billion in claims to selected hospitals under the programme to ensure uninterrupted and free-of-cost medical services for the deserving patients.
The health minister reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to utilizing all available resources for delivering accessible and quality healthcare services to the people of Punjab.
