Govt starts biometric verification of pensions

Government

ISLAMABAD:The government has introduced a biometric verification service for pensioners to extend them more facilities and make the pension-payment mechanism easy and transparent.

Accordingly, a system-link has been established among the bank, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Account Office, following which pensioners’ verification would be performed at banks having validity of six months, a PID news release said on Wednesday.

However, all those pensioners, whose fingerprints have vanished due to any reason/disability, would continue getting their pension by submitting the attested ‘life certificate’ in respective bank branches.

Pensioners have been advised to contact their respective bank branches at the earliest to benefit of this facility and avoid any disruption in the payment of pension.

It has been made clear that the biometric service would be available for all pensioners residing in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and drawing their pension through AGPR (Accountant General Pakistan Revenue), Islamabad. Pensioners may contact respective NADRA Centers or AGPR to Islamabad to avoid any inconvenience at 051-92107023 & 051-9260623, and www.agpr.gov.pk
