Hyderabad: The public sector universities in Hyderabad and Jamshoro celebrated the independence day with national enthusiasm while reiterating the commitment of contributing to academic excellence.
Separate ceremonies were organized at the Sindh University, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) and Sindh Agriculture University
Vice Chancellor of the Sindh University, Prof Dr Fateh Marri, raised the national flag at a ceremony which took place at the varsity’s admin block where a large number of faculty, staff and students were in attendance.
At LUMHS, the flag hoisting ceremony was performed by the VC Prof Dr Ikram Din Ujjan who also started a tree plantation drive on the occasion.
“Along with the development and prosperity of Pakistan, promoting a clean, green, and healthy environment was also a collective responsibility,” Dr Ujjan underlined while addressing the event.
He congratulated the nation, particularly the younger generation, on the independence day.
“Pakistan was the result of a great struggle, sacrifices, and unwavering determination of our forefathers,” he said.
He added that the people should value their freedom and play their role in the development, prosperity and stability of the country.
At MUET, the national flag raising ceremony was held outside the auditorium where the VC Prof Dr Taha hoisted the flag, accompanied by senior faculty members.
Pakistan Zindabad rally was taken out from the Crop Production Department to the VC Secretariat at the Sindh Agriculture University.
The varsity’s VC Prof Dr Altaf Siyal raised the national flag on the occasion besides cutting a cake.
