Faisalabad: The police have arrested a husband and her father-in-law for allegedly subjecting a woman to physical violence over a domestic dispute.
Police spokesman said that the accused husband Shahwaiz allegedly assaulted his wife Kainat during a domestic dispute with the involvement of other family members.
Following the incident, SHO Women police station Madam Madiha Irshad took immediate action and arrested Shahwaiz and his father Ajmal.
The accused were locked behind bars while legal proceedings were initiated against them in accordance with the law, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain said that the arrested accused would be brought to justice and they would face due punishment under the law if found guilty.
He said that protection of women’s rights was a top priority of Faisalabad Police in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
He directed police officials to deal firmly with the cases involving violence against women and ensure that victims received protection and justice without discrimination.
Domestic violence could not be tolerated and police would take action against individuals involved in violence or abuse against women, he added.
