LAHORE: Charge d’ Affaires of Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) regional office here on Wednesday and met with FPCCI Regional Chairman and Vice President Zaki Aijaz.
The discussions focused primarily on enhancing cooperation in diverse fields, including trade, investment, technology, and the exchange of business delegations.
FPCCI Regional Chief Zaki Aijaz highlighted that Business-to-Business (B2B) and People-to-People (P2P) linkages, relations, and joint activities ultimately translate into bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma has said Indonesia is the gateway to the 650 million of the population
in Southeast Asia, the World’s 3rd largest market. The largest Economy in Southeast Asia with stable economic growth and the World’s 16th largest economy with more than US $ 1 trillion in GDP.
He added that Indonesia’s Bank (national and international) was ready t
o support Pakistani business people.
Rahmat stressed the need for stronger liaison between the business communities of both countries, highlighting mutual benefits from each other’s potential and experience. He emphasized the promotion of cooperation in multiple sectors, including tourism, education, health and agriculture.
Zaki Aijaz highlighted the huge potential for Pakistan to enhance its trade and investment ties with Indonesia in agriculture, textiles, information technology, and tourism. He said that the trade volume between Pakistan and Indonesia was not impressive.
Pakistan’s key exports to Indonesia are textiles, surgical instruments, and sports goods, and our key imports are palm oil, coal, and paper products.
Zaki emphasized that : “We can enhance bilateral trade by improving business-to-business contact and facilitating easier market access. There is significant potential for collaboration in the tourism se
ctor in both countries.”
He said that Indonesia and Pakistan share a long history of friendly bilateral relations rooted in mutual respect and shared interests.
He mentioned, “Our countries have cooperated closely on various international platforms and developed strong diplomatic ties. Both nations are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.”
