ISLAMABAD:In continuation of a series of workshops since 2021, the Institute of Urbanism (IoU) with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Pakistan (FNF Pakistan) joined hands to organize a two-days workshop titled “Advanced Social Media Skills for Home-Based Women Entrepreneurs.”
This was the fourth in the series of workshop with the cohort of women-led home based enterprises. This event aimed to equip women-led enterprises with the tools and knowledge needed to maximize their outreach and success in the digital realm, a news release said.
Country Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Pakistan, Birgit Lamm delivered a warm welcome address.
She highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to promoting freedom and economic empowerment, particularly among women, and expressed enthusiasm for the workshop’s mission. ” If you are economically independent you can make decisions about your finances and that feeling is very empowering”
Rebea Firdous, Communication Manager, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Pakistan, led a session on capturing stunning photos using mobile devices. Participants learned invaluable techniques to create eye-catching visuals, an essential skill for engaging social media content. She also discussed email security, leading a discussion on email passwords and security practices. The importance of safeguarding digital identities and sensitive information was stressed, helping participants protect their online presence effectively.
While helping participants in developing logos, and writing descriptions on their preferred social media handles Ms. Firdous emphasized consistency of branding. “A good enterprise small or big always have same information on all social media channels , which means same logo and same ‘about us’ or ‘contact us’ information as description across all social media handles, may it be youtube, instagram, facebook or even whatsapp!”
During the workshop’s engaging session on picture and video editing, participants learned from Mr. Asmat Ullah, Communication Officer at the Institute of Urbanism. Through hands-on guidance and practical demonstrations, participants acquired essential skills that enabled them to transform ordinary images and videos into compelling assets that exude professionalism.
By mastering techniques such as color correction, image cropping, and video editing, they were empowered to craft visuals that not only captured the essence of their businesses but also resonated with their target audience on various social media platforms. The significance of this session extended beyond mere technical proficiency. It instilled in participants the ability to tell compelling visual stories that could engage and captivate viewers. Understanding that visuals play a pivotal role in digital marketing and branding, the workshop fostered an environment of creativity and innovation.
Attendees left the session with newfound confidence in their abilities to curate content that would leave a lasting impression on their audience, setting them on a path to enhance their digital presence and, ultimately, drive the success of their home-based enterprises. “After these two days I no longer feel dependent on others to manage my business related social media handles. I need to work on developing content on a regular basis but I feel confident I can do it myself” as shared by a women entrepreneur at the conclusion of the workshop.
