Lahore: The Institute of Public Health (IPH) has established a strategic partnership with Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, USA, to strengthen public health systems and improve the health and well-being of people through evidence-based interventions, innovation and capacity building.
According to an IPH spokesperson on Sunday, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting preventive and curative healthcare and addressing priority public health challenges.
Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate on prevention, surveillance and effective control of communicable diseases, as well as maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health programmes.
The partnership also covers preventive screening programmes for women, mothers, newborns and children, along with timely disease diagnosis and prompt medical intervention.
The agreement envisages initiatives to enhance the capacity and professional development of health workers and public health professionals, promote innovation in digital health, and strengthen disease surveillance and health information systems.
The partners will also work on leadership development, quality improvement and health-system strengthening, besides conducting joint educational programmes, technical training, workshops, and scientific and research exchange initiatives.
The spokesperson said the partnership would help accelerate efforts to reduce the burden of infectious diseases, improve maternal and child health outcomes and expand access to quality preventive and healthcare services across Pakistan.
The IPH expressed its commitment to promoting innovation, translating research into practical action and developing a highly trained public health workforce capable of effectively addressing current and emerging health challenges.
The partnership, the spokesperson said, marked a significant milestone towards the shared vision of building healthy families, strong and resilient communities and a more effective and resilient health system in Pakistan through international cooperation and scientific excellence.
