Faisalabad: Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has launched a comprehensive review of development priorities in Jaranwala, seeking faster execution of public welfare schemes.
He also announced measures for improved healthcare, higher education, civic services, urban beautification and restoration of the historic Ganga Pur horse-drawn train.
During his detailed visit to Jaranwala tehsil, the divisional commissioner visited Jinnah Park and reviewed the recreational facilities available there for citizens.
He directed the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Jaranwala to establish a quality canteen at the park and take further measures to make the facility more convenient and attractive for visitors.
The divisional commissioner later held a meeting with representatives of all major stakeholders of the tehsil at the Municipal Committee office.
Members of Punjab Assembly Bilal Badr Chaudhry and Khan Bahadur Dogar, members of Tehsil Peace Committee, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leaders, traders, representatives of the Bar Association, media and civil society attended the meeting.
Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh said that no effort would be spared to make Jaranwala tehsil a model area in terms of development and public facilities.
He reviewed progress on public welfare schemes being implemented under the Punjab Cities Program and Punjab Development Program and directed the relevant authorities to accelerate construction and complete the projects within stipulated timelines.
