Jinnah’s vision key to nation-building

Lahore

LAHORE:Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s R.A constitutional leadership, democratic vision

and commitment to institution-building played a decisive role in the creation of Pakistan and laid the foundation for its development, noted historian Prof Dr Farooq Ahmad Dar said on Tuesday.

He was addressing a seminar titled ‘Jinnah’s Leadership: From Independence to Nation-Building,’ organised by the Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre. Dr Dar, a historian from Quaid-i-Azam

University, Islamabad, highlighted Jinnah’s efforts to strengthen the newly established state’s

political, economic, judicial and educational institutions.

The speaker emphasized that Jinnah prioritized key developmental sectors-including agriculture, investment, education, healthcare, and sports-while consistently advocating for constitutional governance. He further noted that the mandate to frame Pakistan’s first constitution was deliberately entrusted to the Constituent Assembly, a testament to Jinnah’s deeply democratic principles. During his address at Islamia College, Peshawar, on April 12, 1948, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah R.A famously described the students as the ‘future builders of Pakistan.’ He called upon them to cultivate discipline, strong character, personal initiative, and high academic standards, reminding them of their vital duty to uphold and advance the newly founded state. Pakistan Study Centre Director Prof Dr Amjad Abbas Khan appreciated the keynote speaker’s scholarly insights and reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to promoting historical awareness and academic discourse. Dr Chaman Hussain moderated the session, which concluded with
a vote of thanks.
