Peshawar:The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet, in an important meeting, approved a number of significant decisions relating to counter-terrorism, sanitation, health, social welfare, and other sectors in the province.
The Cabinet approved an additional amount of Rs 5.33 billion for the project of the Counter-Terrorism Department’s (CTD) district setup and the Peshawar Regional CTD Headquarters.
The meeting also approved the expansion of the sanitation programme in rural areas (Village Councils) at a cost of Rs 7,660.590 million.
The Cabinet approved sending Joint Resolution No. 283, passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly, to the federal government. The resolution condemns the incident that occurred with Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Punjab.
The meeting approved the policy for the distribution of reserved seats in medical and dental colleges across the country for candidates from the merged districts for the academic year 2026-27.
The Cabinet also approved financial assistance for the treatment of 81 deserving patients suffering from long-term and chronic diseases or complicated medical conditions.
Approval was granted to transfer 4 kanals and 17 marlas of land from the Auqaf Department to the Social Welfare Department for the construction of a rehabilitation, treatment, and drug de-addiction centre for drug addicts in Swabi.
Similarly, approval was granted to transfer 25 kanals of land from the Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives Department to the Social Welfare Department for the establishment of a proposed Child Protection Unit and Social Welfare Complex in Dera Ismail Khan.
While deciding on the export of sugar, the Cabinet directed that it be made subject to the crushing season and the new sugar production.
The meeting also approved the acquisition of $250 million in funding for the World Bank (IDA) KP READ project.
