Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi offered Friday prayer at the Civil Secretariat mosque alongside the Chief Secretary.
After the Friday prayers, the chief minister received a detailed briefing at the Chief Secretary’s Office on the overall security situation in the province. He also issued necessary instructions to the relevant authorities.
The chief minister’s decision to offer Friday prayers at the Civil Secretariat mosque came amid a security threat regarding possible attacks on government installations, particularly major mosques, today.
His presence at the mosque was seen as a clear message of the government’s resolve to combat terrorism and reject attempts to spread fear and panic.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi said terrorists could not intimidate the people or the government. ‘The people and government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will never bow before terrorism,’ he said.
He added that terrorism would be confronted with full force on every front and that there would be no compromise on the protection of the lives and property of the people.
