PESHAWAR:Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra on Monday claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had become the first province to start paying compensation to flood affectees.
In a statement, he said that KP government started paying money despite the fact that it had not received any funds from the federal government so far.
He congratulated Chairman PTI Imran Khan and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan for inaugurating the compensation process in D.I. Khan and Tank districts.
Jhagra said that based on learnings from Ehsaas programme, a transparent system had been developed for compensation to the flood victims.
He said that after the ground verification, the beneficiaries would receive reimbursement directly in the Bank of Khyber accounts along with ATMs and cheque books.
The finance minister said that first funds spent would be those collected through efforts spearheaded by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, that are ensuring early payment.
