Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is making steady progress toward a cashless system for public service payments as part of efforts to enhance transparency and ease of transactions.
Under the cashless policy 43 public services have been shifted to a digital payment system.
Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah said that these services include land mutation fard issuance motor vehicle registration motor vehicle token tax university admission fees and fees of various educational boards.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board is gradually converting a total of 170 services to a cashless system.
So far 43 services have been made cashless while an additional 23 services will be shifted to the digital payment system by the end of January.
Since October 2025 salaries of 280650 employees and pensions of 130132 pensioners have been paid through a digital system.
Work is also underway to make autonomous bodies and authorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government cashless which is expected to be completed by December 2026.
