Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Town Planning Wing has intensified its crackdown against illegal commercial buildings and properties defaulting on commercialisation fees. sealing 99 properties and demolishing multiple illegal structures in different parts of the city.
The operation was carried out on the directions of LDA Director General Tahir Farooq in various schemes and LDA-controlled areas. including Gulshan Mustafa Society. Punjab Government Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme. Naz Town. Pine Avenue. Punjab University Town. Gulberg. Faisal Town. Canal Road. Samanabad. Poonch Road and Allama Iqbal Town.
LDA teams demolished illegal foundations of an under-construction building in Gulshan Mustafa Society and removed an illegally constructed floor in Punjab Government Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme-II before sealing the property.
Several illegal shops in Naz Town were demolished. while an illegal structure on Defence Road near Kahna Flyover was also removed. An illegal service station on Main Pine Avenue Road was demolished. while boundary walls of an illegal marquee site in Punjab University Town Phase-II were removed.
The teams sealed 29 properties in Gulberg and Faisal Town over illegal commercial use. Another 42 properties were sealed along Canal Road. Samanabad and Poonch Road for illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees.
During a recovery operation. 28 more properties were sealed in Allama Iqbal Town.
The sealed properties included private schools. colleges. academies. halls. salons. cafes. restaurants. food points. grocery stores. clinics. hardware and electrical stores. pharmacies. shops. car showrooms and offices.
