LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider said here Thursday that a number of works related to the strengthening of transmission system and the upgradation was being carried out. He added that reforms were ongoing throughout the region to improve the electricity transmission system and provide better facilities to consumers. In this regard, Chief Engineer O and M ( T and G) GSO teams under the supervision of Zafar Iqbal, in addition to annual maintenance and development works, are carrying out numerous tasks to keep the system fully stable and robust, he said.
He mentioned that last month, the repair works of 132KV system of LESCO included one new 11kV feeder energized, current transformer replacement, 4 11KV lightning arrester replacement, 132kV one lightning arrester replacement, nine AMR meters were installed. At 64 locations thermal vision hotspots were attended, transmission kit was applied at 49 locations, straight joints were installed on power cables at 2
locations, over current relays were replaced at 1 location, distance relays were replaced at 2 locations, 5 KV panels were installed.
Axillary transformer changed at 1 place, safety seminar conducted, fire fighting rehearsal conducted, 11 KV power cables changed at 5 places, 576 disk insulators cleaned, pole missing braces installed at 57 places, 16 places But jumpers were changed, jumpers were repaired at 4 places, transmission line patrolling, tree trimming, etc. were done. Apart from this, notices were given to 41 houses who have built illegal houses under 132kv transmission poles. Engineer O and M (T and G) says that the improvement of the system is going on, on which the LESCO management appreciates the performance of all the field staff.
