PESHAWAR:The elected representatives of local government led by Chairman Ittehad Community Noor Ghulam Afridi here on Monday staged a protest demonstration in front of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) against non-transfer of funds and powers to them by the provincial government.
They said that one year of local government election has been completed on December 19 and they staged the protest on this day to mark it as a “Dark Day”, adding that the provincial government intentionally didn’t provide funds and empower the LG during the period.
They criticized KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan for not honoring his commitment made a month before to empower the LG within 15-day and said that after passage of a month time period, nothing practical was done.
The participants of the protest were holding placards inscribed with slogans against PTI government and warned that the protest would be extended to other parts of the province, if their demands were not met.
The protest besides other was attended by Vice President Jamate Islami KP, Chairmen ANP Intizaar Khalil and Wali Mohammad, PTI Chairman Ataullah, JUI Chairmen Afridi Khan, and Haji Mohammad Jameel, Chairmen PPP Haji Irshand and Mehmoodul Hassan alias Wawa Khan, Nasira Ibadat Women Wing City, and minorities leader Pervaiz Iqbal.
