Lahore: The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) administration has constituted a vigilance committee to implement Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for comprehensive health sector reforms.
The committee has been tasked with strengthening administrative discipline, ensuring the provision of quality medical facilities, and closely monitoring staff performance across the hospital.
According to directives issued by Professor Dr. Farooq Afzal, Principal of Amir-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), on Thursday, the vigilance committee will be headed by Prof. Dr. Nudrat Sohail. Other members include Dr. Javed Mumtaz, Dr. Laila Shafiq, and Nursing Superintendent Saima Fateh.
The committee has been mandated to conduct daily inspections of all hospital departments to review administrative functioning and assess the quality of patient care. Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal stated that the committee has been granted full administrative powers, including the authority to audit departmental records and recommend disciplinary action in cases of negligence or misconduct.
He further emphasized that the hospital administration will ensure strict implementation of the committee’s recommendations to bring about tangible improvements in service delivery.
Highlighting the objectives of the initiative, the Principal AMC said that the primary goal is to overhaul the existing system at Lahore General Hospital, ensure immediate redressal of patient grievances, and guarantee the round-the-clock availability of medical facilities. He added that the robust monitoring mechanism would enhance staff productivity while ensuring timely relief for patients and their attendants.
