Lahore: Lahore General Hospital (LGH) Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said that internal roads of the hospital had been completely carpeted under a major welfare initiative, ensuring seamless accessibility for an estimated 30,000 daily visitors. Briefing the media representatives here on Monday, he said the infrastructure project was successfully completed through the special initiatives, with the active financial and moral support of local philanthropists.
Detailing the project during his briefing, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal stated that rehabilitation and reconstruction work had been ongoing for the past year. He noted that despite limited resources, effective planning, close teamwork, and community collaboration enabled the successful completion of the task.
“The newly carpeted roads will provide immense relief to patients and their attendants, facilitating smooth movement across different departments within the hospital premises,” Dr. Afzal said. He added that medical professionals, health experts, and students would also benefit from a much safer, cleaner, and more efficient environment during their daily duties and academic training.
Around 30,000 individuals traverse the hospital grounds daily, and the upgraded pathways would significantly mitigate their commuting difficulties. Echoing similar views, Medical Superintendent (MS) LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain extended his gratitude to the contributing philanthropists. He reiterated that providing a pleasant environment and optimal medical facilities to patients remains the administration’s top priority.
“Resource limitations will not be allowed to become an obstacle. Our focus remains firmly on achieving maximum results with limited means,” Dr. Faryad emphasized, adding that further measures to strengthen the hospital’s core infrastructure would continue unabated.
