LHC adjourns Khadija Shah’s contempt plea till Oct 27

Lahore

LAHORE:The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a contempt petition, filed by fashion designer Khadija Shah against police high ups over her arrest in a third case related to May-9 violence despite bail in two cases, till October 27.

The single bench comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the contempt petition filed by the fashion designer.

Earlier, at the start of proceedings, a reply was filed on behalf of the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore regarding the arrest of the petitioner in the third case.

However, the court expressed dissatisfaction over the reply and directed the CCPO for filing a new reply.

Subsequently, the court adjourned further proceedings till October 27.

The court had asked the CCPO to file a reply about the arrest of Khadija Shah in the third case, a day ago, after

he told that the police arrested Khadija Shah in third case in the light of statements of three accused who were recently arrested in connection with May-9 violence. The accused claimed that Khadija Shah incited them to create law and order situation in case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest on May-9, he added.

Khadija Shah had approached the court for initiating contempt proceedings against the police high ups. She submitted that the police had informed the LHC that she was named in only two cases but after the LHC division bench granted her bail in the cases, the police arrested her in connection with Rahat Bakery arson case.

It is pertinent to mention here that an LHC division bench had granted post-arrest bail to Khadija Shah in cases of attacks on Jinnah House and Askari tower, a few days ago.
