Shangla:Traders and representatives of various sectors in Malakand Division have called upon the government to reconsider the imposition of new taxation measures.
The representatives of traders, political parties, trade unions, lawyers, journalists, transporters, hoteliers, industrialists and marble-sector workers said the issue of Malakand Division’s status and tax arrangements was also pending before the Constitutional Court and called for the matter to be addressed in accordance with legal and constitutional requirements.
The traders maintained that they were not opposed to taxation in principle but wanted the government to consider the division’s historical and administrative circumstances before enforcing the new tax measures.
They said businesses in the region were already facing economic difficulties and that additional tax obligations could further affect trade and employment.
They urged the federal and provincial governments to engage with local stakeholders and find a mutually acceptable solution through dialogue.
