Hyderabad: A meeting of the district coordination committee regarding the National Action Plan (NAP) was held at deputy commissioner secretariat, Matiari under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner Muhammad Danish Zakir.
Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner Muhammad Danish Zakir said that maintaining law and order, protecting government and public resources and ensuring effective implementation of state policies were among the top priorities of the district administration.
He directed all concerned departments to work effectively through mutual coordination and cooperation and said that action should be taken against illegal activities, power theft, hoarding and institutional negligence under a zero tolerance policy.
According to a handout, the meeting conducted a detailed review of the 14 point agenda under the National Action Plan including district security, law and order, law enforcement measures and various administrative matters. The overall law and order situation in the district was reviewed, while measures against drug trafficking, human trafficking, forced labour, violations of traffic laws, checking of non-customs-paid (NCP) vehicles and other illegal activities were also discussed.
The SSP Matiari Abdul Aleem Bullo briefed the meeting on the law and order situation in the district and the measures being taken by law enforcement agencies. He assured the meeting that effective legal action would be taken against any illegal activity or element that threatens peace and public order.
The deputy commissioner directed the assistant commissioners to take immediate action against illegal petrol pumps in the district, ensure registration of FIRs and make certain that such illegal activities do not resume after action is taken. He directed the police and other relevant institutions to extend full cooperation to assistant commissioners in this regard.
HESCO officials informed the meeting that power theft problems persist even in areas where express feeders had been provided. The deputy commissioner directed assistant commissioners to extend full cooperation to HESCO authorities in eliminating electricity theft and seek necessary assistance from the police to make efforts against power theft more effective.
DC also directed the social welfare department to conduct regular field visits across the district to prevent child labour and ensure that children were not employed for labour. He directed the department to take effective measures to prevent child begging.
The Anti-Narcotics authorities were directed to intensify operations against drugs. The meeting also stressed effective enforcement of traffic laws and legal action against violators.
The deputy commissioner issued special directions regarding fire safety, instructing the relevant authorities to inspect hospitals, schools, colleges and universities across the district, conduct detailed assessments of fire-safety arrangements and ensure necessary measures.
He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper entry and exit arrangements in markets across the district, availability of access routes and compliance with security and safety requirements.
The meeting also reviewed measures concerning the repatriation of illegally residing foreign nationals, prevention of smuggling, action against hoarding, removal of encroachments from government and public land, action against illegal petrol pumps and prevention of other illegal activities.
Customs authorities informed the meeting that checking against non customs paid (NCP) vehicles was ongoing and vehicles were being inspected at various locations. The meeting emphasized further strengthening this process and improving coordination and cooperation among the relevant institutions.
The meeting also reviewed measures for the elimination of begging, compliance with regulations governing sales points, the current status and progress of CPEC and non-CPEC development projects and the timely submission of SIGMA PIFTAC data (FCR).
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Danish Zakir directed all concerned officers to further strengthen mutual coordination for effective implementation of the National Action Plan and accelerate practical measures to ensure law and order, the rule of law and public safety across the district.
The meeting was attended by the SSP Matiari, assistant commissioners and representatives of police, HESCO, customs, anti-narcotics, social welfare and other law-enforcement agencies as well as heads and representatives of various departments of the district.
