Attock: A meeting of the Plastic and Waste Management Committee was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Attock, under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) Anil Saeed to review measures for eliminating the use of banned polythene bags across the district and ensuring the safe disposal of hazardous hospital waste.
Officials from the relevant departments attended the meeting and reviewed the ongoing enforcement measures, legal action, and public awareness campaigns aimed at curbing the use of banned polythene bags. The meeting was informed that operations against the manufacture, sale, and use of prohibited polythene bags would be further intensified to reduce environmental pollution and promote a cleaner environment.
Addressing the participants, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) Anil Saeed said that effective implementation of the Punjab Government’s environmentally friendly policies should be ensured throughout the district. He directed the concerned departments to continue indiscriminate action against the production, sale, and use of banned polythene bags while encouraging citizens to adopt eco-friendly alternatives.
The meeting also conducted a detailed review of the system for the safe disposal of hospital waste. The relevant departments were instructed to ensure that hazardous medical waste is disposed of strictly in accordance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safeguard public health and protect the environment from potential hazards.
Anil Saeed emphasized that all concerned departments should work in close coordination and adopt a comprehensive strategy to effectively discharge their responsibilities, ensuring a reduction in plastic pollution, the promotion of a clean environment, and the safe management of medical waste.
