LAHORE:The Pakistan Railways (PR) has suspended four railway employees due to negligence in the Mianwali Express train accident.
On the directives of the railways ministry, an inquiry committee, led by deputy principal officer, has been formed to investigate the incident.
Chairman Railways Mazhar Ali Shah has instructed the committee to submit its report within 24 hours, emphasising that legal action will be taken against those responsible for ensuring safety.
The accident had occurred at Qila Sattar Shah Railway Station at 4:50 a.m. on Sunday morning when it collided with a stationary goods train near Sheikhupura, disrupting train operations.
The PR administration later restored train operations at 7:30 a.m., and fortunately, there were no serious injuries. Rescue 1122 teams also participated in relief work. The PR administration suspended Driver Imran Serwar, Assistant Driver M Bilal, Assistant Station Manager Qila Sattar Shah Ali Raza, and Cabin Man Safdar Shah during the initial inquiry.
