Lahore:During a review meeting on Punjab Development Program (PDP) chaired by Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique, the provincial minister was briefed on the progress of ongoing development schemes in 51 cities. Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood and Special Secretary Shahid Zaman Lak also attended the meeting.
Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique, while expressing satisfaction over the handover of dewatering sets to 22 cities, said that PDP is not just about construction of drains or canals but is a comprehensive program to beautify cities. He said that after the completion of the program, a new look of cities should emerge. He said that modern machinery like de-silting units, suction machines and de-watering sets have also been provided to the cities included in PDP. “All the stakeholders should move forward according to the master planning and wherever possible, saving should be made mandatory”, he urged.
Zeeshan Rafique stressed that every project should be completed on time like water tanks and drains schemes. “Municipal Officers (I) and Assistant Project Directors should ensure implementation of the timeline”, he added. He said that the savings made in the schemes will be used in the PDP itself.
