Bahawalpur: A number of 3,022 police officers and personnel of Bahawalpur police will perform security duties at 292 polling stations across the constituency in NA-168 By-Election to be
held on the 27th of September 2026. According to an official press release issued by the district police office here, heavy police deployment has been made across National Assembly Constituency NA-168 to ensure the maintenance of law and order during the by-election. ‘A number of 3,022 police officers and personnel will perform security duties at 292 polling stations across the constituency,’ it said.
‘Of the total polling stations, 16 have been classified as Category A (highly sensitive), 87 as Category B (sensitive), and 189 as Category C (normal),’ it added. It further said that to secure the polling stations, the police have deployed 2,010 constables, 600 Special Police personnel, 379 upper subordinates, and 33 inspectors and SHOs. The security plan also includes reserve contingents, mobile patrols, and quick response teams to deal with any emergency situation.
The district police office directed that police personnel must perform their duties with complete impartiality throughout the by-election and ensure strict implementation of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s Code of Conduct.
The press release warned that the display of weapons, aerial firing, and any form of disorder or hooliganism around polling stations will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It was further stated that anyone attempting to interfere in the electoral process, intimidate voters, or disrupt law and order will face immediate legal action in accordance with the law.
