QUETTA:National Accountability Bureau Balochistan on Wednesday filed a reference against the former deputy commissioner Kohlu district, officers of the Communication and Works Department and 16 others over an allegation of massive corruption in the road projects initiated under the Kohlu Development Package.
Deputy Commissioner Kohlu and Project Director Kohlu Project, Ejaz Haider Shah, Officers of the Communication and Works department namely Zahir Baloch, Aslam Qambrani and Fazal Mohammad Zarkoon have been nominated in the reference
As per NAB probe into the federal government funded project, the Federal Government had released millions of rupee under Kohlu Development Package in 2008.
However, the fund could not be utilized as per the package plan.
Reacting a complaint lodged with NAB Balochistan regarding the embezzlement in the project , an inquiry was initiated that revealed that the government officers in connivance with the contractors embezzled Rs 6.5 million out of 25 million earmarked for the road projects including Tambo to Pazza and Duki to Pazza.
NAB after having gathered concrete evidence filed a reference against former Deputy Commissioner Kohlu, Communication and Works officers including Zahir Baloch, Aslam Qambrani and Fazal Mohammad Zarkoon with the accountability court Quetta.
