Islamabad: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Faisalabad Circle arrested a suspect allegedly involved in storing and sharing child sexual abuse material online and seized a mobile phone containing suspected illegal content.
An NCCIA official told reporter on Friday that the operation was carried out on the directions of Director General NCCIA Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi under the agency’s zero-tolerance policy against child sexual exploitation.
The official said the Faisalabad team conducted a raid after receiving secret information and tracing the suspect through modern technology.
The suspect was allegedly involved in storing and sharing objectionable material involving children through online platforms.
During the operation, NCCIA officials recovered a mobile phone from the suspect’s possession and sent it to a forensic laboratory for detailed examination.
The official said initial forensic checks had indicated the presence of suspected child sexual abuse material on the recovered phone.
A case has been registered against the suspect under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and other relevant legal provisions.
Further investigation is underway to identify other persons who may be connected to the suspected online network.
DG NCCIA Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said the safety, dignity and protection of children remained the agency’s top priority.
He said there would be no leniency for those involved in child sexual exploitation and the sharing of illegal material involving children.
The DG directed NCCIA teams to continue strict action against such crimes across the country and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice under the law.
He also urged citizens to immediately report any suspected child sexual abuse material or related online activity to NCCIA helpline 1799 or their nearest NCCIA circle.
