DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The district police on Wednesday claimed to have seized non custom paid (NCP) items and Iranian Diesel worth around Rs 28 million during ongoing crackdown against smuggling of NCP goods in different areas.
Following the directions of District Police Officer Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani, the operations against the smuggling of NCP goods and Iranian Diesel were intensified across the district, said a spokesman for district police.
He said a team of Paroa Police Station seized three NCP cars bearing numbers (RA-267, ABU-412 & AFS-576) during a blockade and arrested two accused while the third accused managed to escape from the scene. The estimated worth of these cars is around Rs 9 million. The same police, during the checking of different vehicles, also recovered 1800 liters Diesel and 300 liters petrol worth around Rs 630,000.
Similarly, the team of Daraban Police station recovered 31,000 liters Iranian Diesel which was being smuggled in hidden tanks fitted in a Coal-loaded Truck bearing registration number (JU-0846). The estimated cost of this recovered Diesel is around Rs 9.3 million.
Meanwhile, Shaheed Nawab Khan police station team seized a NCP car bearing number (BQA-198) worth around Rs Five million.
Likewise, Mughalkot police recovered 12,000 liters Iranian Diesel which was kept in secret tanks of a Truck with registration number (TKT-873) worth around Rs 3.6 million.
Similarly, Darazinda police during checking of different vehicles, recovered NCP items including 409 packets of Chocolate, 57 cartons of Iranian cream, 22 cartons of Soap, 185 packets of Iranian toffee and others. The estimated cost of these recovered NCP items is around Rs 700,000.
Later, all the recovered NCP goods were handed over to the customs authorities for further legal action.
