BAHAWALPUR: A team of Regional Office of Federal Ombudsman Secretariat in Bahawalpur has inspected various sections of Pakistan Railways at Bahawalpur Railway Station here on Tuesday.
The team of Regional Office of Federal Ombudsman Secretariat in Bahawalpur headed by Incharge/Senior Investigation Officer, Dr. Muhammad Zahid, Commissioner IRD, Khalid Nazeer and senior official, Muhammad Yasir arrived at Bahawalpur Railway Station premises and inspected various sections of Pakistan Railways.
Senior official of Pakistan Railways including Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways, Multan Divison, Ms. Ramla Shahid were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zahid said that Regional Office of Federal Ombudsman Secreariat had received several complaints by people and passengers about overcharging at parking stand of Bahawalpur Railway Station, overcharging at seat reservation counters at Bahawalpur Railway Station, lack of facilities and misbehavior of few employees of Pakistan Railways with the passengers.

e said that honorable Federal Ombudsman has taken Suo Moto Notice under Article 9 of P.O. No.1 of 1983 with regard to mal-administration in the functioning and constituted inspection team to visit the Railway Station, Bahawalpur. ‘A number of passengers have lodged their complaints with the Regional Office of Federal Ombudsman Secretariat in Bahawalpur about overcharging and other issues.
The team inspected cleanliness, reservation counters, parking stand, park, railway control room, signal room, office of station master and others. The team also met with the passengers at the platform and asked them to give their feedback. The team urged the officials of Pakistan Railways to bring further improvement in facilities being given to passengers.
The team expressed its concern over performance of private contractor company of Farid Express train and urged the company to improve performance. The DS Railways Multan Division assured the team that all steps would be taken to provide necessary facilities to commuters
