Lahore: Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore,Muhammad Ali Ejaz on Saturday reviewed the progress of the ongoing polio vaccination campaign on its fifth day,directing health and administrative teams to ensure access to every child in the district in accordance with the micro plan.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner(ADC) Municipal Services,Abdullah Khan, CEO Health,Dr.Asif Arbab Khan,all Assistant Commissioners,Additional Assistant Commissioners,international observers and Deputy District Health Officers.
The CEO Health briefed the meeting on the fifth-day progress,informing that 2,158,564 children had been administered polio drops against the administrative target of 2,285,477.
He said 1,508,172 households had been covered against the target of 1,656,329 households.
Of 433,593 children found absent from their homes,267,302 had subsequently been covered while 166,291 remained to be reached.
The meeting was further informed that 615 of the 654 refusal cases had been covered, with 39 cases remaining, including 37 medical refusals.
The DC directed the teams to ensure counseling of refusing families and make every effort to reach each child according to the micro plan.
He also stressed the need for accurate reporting of campaign data.
‘Ensuring access to every child is essential for the success of the polio campaign,’Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ejaz said, adding that coordinated teamwork was necessary to achieve the campaign targets.
He urged parents to ensure that every child under five years of age was administered polio drops and appealed to citizens to cooperate with vaccination teams.
