Rawalpindi: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) ranked top as Pakistan’s leading women university in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026, marking a significant milestone in campus sustainability and environmental infrastructure.
According to the newly released global assessment covering 2,016 universities worldwide, FJWU ranked second globally among all women universities and secured the top spot globally among women’s institutions in the “Setting and Infrastructure” category. Regionally, the university placed 358th in Asia and rose to 24th overall among all public and private universities across Pakistan.
The university demonstrated consistent upward momentum in international sustainability metrics, advancing from 835th position among 1,183 institutions in 2023, to 734th in 2024, 663rd in 2025, and climbing to 612th worldwide in the 2026 rankings.
The achievement attributed the advancement to strategic eco-friendly initiatives spearheaded under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, alongside Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Director Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin and Additional Director QEC Nausheen Naz. Commending the faculty and administration on the achievement, the university leadership reaffirmed its commitment to furthering green infrastructure, sustainable campus policies, and academic excellence, said a university press release.
Established in 2010 by Universitas Indonesia, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings evaluates higher education institutions globally on environmental sustainability and green campus management across six primary indicators: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water usage, zero-emission transportation, and sustainability education and research.
