LAHORE:Police have deployed over 3,000 officers and personnel to ensure foolproof security for the first phase of the annual Raiwind Tablighi Ijtema, which is being attended by hundreds of thousands of local and international participants.

According to a spokesperson for the DIG Operations on Friday, a comprehensive operational plan has been executed, assigning security duties to three Superintendents of Police (SPs), 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and 41 Inspectors and Station House Officers (SHOs).

The spokesperson stated that 25 security pickets have been erected around the venue premises, alongside six designated parking bays. Biometric and manual checking mechanisms have been activated to thoroughly search every individual and vehicle entering the congregation grounds.

Facilitation camps have also been operationalized across the venue perimeter to provide guidance to attendees and manage emergency responses.

Patrolling units from the Dolphin Force, Police Response Unit (PRU), Elite Force, and sector police stations are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance around the site, while daily search and sweep operations are being conducted in contiguous residential pockets.

The first phase of the international congregation will conclude on Sunday with the final collective prayer (Dua).
