Over Rs 1.52 bln spent on police welfare in Punjab

Lahore: Initiatives for the welfare of the Punjab Police force and their families are ongoing, with over Rs 1.5295 billion spent on the welfare of the police force this year.



According to a spokesperson here on Sunday, over Rs 432.7 million was released as educational scholarships for the children of police employees, while more than Rs 428.5 million was provided as wedding gifts for the employees’ daughters.



Funds exceeding Rs 247.2 million were released to assist with medical treatment facilities, and over Rs 233 million was issued for retirement grants.



More than Rs 129.8 million was provided to police employees’ families as subsistence allowance, while over Rs 47.3 million was given to families to cover funeral expenses.



According to the spokesperson, more than Rs 10.7 million was also provided to the police force as immediate financial assistance.



IG Punjab stated that efforts to alleviate the difficulties faced by employees will continue through the income generated by the Police Welfare Fund.
