PITB hosts NCSC delegation

Lahore: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) hosted the second session with a delegation from the National Centre for State Courts (NCSC) and Cursor for Development and Education (CODE) Pakistan. This visit was part of the 'Digitally Integrated Criminal Justice System' initiative, a collaborative effort between the CODE Pakistan, NCSC and PITB. The delegation was led by Carlos E Jimenez Gomez, Principal Consultant and Digital Transformation Expert at NCSC and Waleed Yawar, representative of the CODE Pakistan.

The session was chaired by Syed Qasim Afzal, PITB's Additional Director General (ADG), who provided an in-depth overview of the current state of Pakistan's criminal justice system. He also discussed the challenges and strategic measures necessary for the successful implementation of the 'Digitally Integrated Criminal Justice System,' which aims to modernize the justice sector with advanced digital solutions.

Jamal Ahmad, Director of Project Management at PITB, then briefed the delegation on the technical procedures behind the initiative. Following the briefing, the delegation toured PITB's e-Khidmat Center at Arfa Software Technology Park.

PITB Senior Programme Managers Salman Ali Khan and Qasim Tufail showcased the center's state-of-the-art services, which provide citizens with efficient government services and contribute to streamlining operations across Punjab.

The session fostered productive discussions, with all participants offering valuable insights to refine

the project's strategy and ensure alignment with its goals.

FIA Gujranwala arrests key suspect of Libya boat tragedy

Lahore:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Gujranwala zone arrested a key suspect involved in the tragic Libya boat incident. According to an FIA spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Ghulam Murtaza, was apprehended during a targeted raid in Bhera, Sargodha. The suspect is found to be involved in the illegal smuggling of innocent citizens abroad. The accused, Murtaza, is also connected to the trafficking of minor children for illegal overseas migration. The children trafficked by Murtaza who were being sent to Italy, remained missing. The FIA officials revealed that Murtaza had collected over 7.1 million rupees from various individuals, promising to send them illegally to Italy through unauthorised routes. The suspect has been taken into custody, and investigations are underway. The FIA authorities have also launched further raids to apprehend other individuals involved in the trafficking network. Director FIA Gujranwala zone Abdul Qadir Qamar said all resources were being deployed to app rehend the remaining criminals. He emphasised: "We will not tolerate anyone exploiting the lives of innocent people. Those found guilty will face strict legal action based on solid evidence."

9 mega development projects under construction in Korangi district: Senator Mehdi

Karachi:Special Assistant to Chief Minister for CM Inspection, Inquiries and Implementation Team (CMIIIT) and General Secretary PPP Sindh.Senator Waqar Mehdi has said that nine mega projects, collectively worth billions of rupees, are currently under construction in Korangi District. Once completed, these projects will significantly improve public amenities and simplify daily life for residents.Senator Mehdi expressed these views while speaking to media during visit to the site of development projects.He highlighted that the 136 ongoing development projects managed by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) across the city are not mere symbolic initiatives, as seen in other provinces, but are thoughtfully designed to address Karachi's specific needs and serve its people effectively.He reiterated that there would be no compromise on the quality and timely completion of these projects and that all obstacles in this regard would be removed.He further said that he would personally oversee ongoing projec ts in all districts to guarantee their quality and timely completion.Meanwhile, Senator Waqar Mehdi chaired a key meeting at the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Korangi. The meeting was attended by DC Korangi Masood Bhutto, CMIIIT Department Member Abdul Salam Memon, KDA Chief Engineer, consultants, and other relevant officials.During the meeting, the KDA briefed Mehdi on the provincial development projects and mega projects underway in Korangi District. However, he expressed displeasure over the incomplete briefing provided by the KDA officers and consultants.He directed the KDA to requalify its consultants, conduct soil testing, and submit monthly progress reports on the projects to the CMIIIT Department. Senator Waqar Mehdi also instructed the DC Korangi to oversee the ongoing projects to ensure their quality for public benefit.Later, Senator Waqar Mehdi inspected several development schemes funded by the Sindh government in Korangi District.PPP Korangi District President Jani Memon, Gener al Secretary Sharjeel Rizwani, Senior Vice President Shiraz Waheed, Information Secretary Ahmed Raza, and others, were also present on the occasion.

One killed, two injured in Karachi road accident


Karachi: A man was killed and two children were injured in a road accident in the Landhi Shah Latif Town area of Karachi, on Thursday, according to Rescue sources quoted by tv channels. initial reports said that the accident occurred when a speeding vehicle struck a motorcyclist while passing through the Landhi Shah Latif Town area.



The impact of the collision killed the motorcyclist on the spot, while two children sustained injuries. After receiving information about the incident, a rescue team rushed to the scene and shifted the body and the injured children to a nearby hospital.



Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and identify those responsible.

Efforts underway to improve medical facilities: MS Hadi

Quetta:Medical Superintendent (MS) of Civil Hospital Quetta Dr. Hadi Kakar on Thursday said that the provision of medical facilities and cleanliness in the hospital are being improved.

He expressed these views while talking to media here.

MS, Dr. Hadi Kakar said that Civil Hospital Quetta is one of the two big hospitals in Balochistan where a large population is turning towards the Civil Hospital.

He said, a heavy responsibility falls on the hospital administration saying that as the Medical Superintendent, he was trying to solve the problems of the hospital in order to improve quality of treatment for patients.

He said that within the available resources, concrete steps are being taken to provide medical facilities to the people of Balochistan under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Minister for Health Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panizai.

He said that due to the serious traffic problem in the hospital, those coming for emergency have to face difficulties to solve this, the hospital would be made a no-parking zone in collaboration with the relevant authorities so that no difficulty is faced in emergencies.
