Peshawar:Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar hosted a seminar on self-accountability with Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Accountability, Brigadier (R) Muhammad Musaddiq Abbasi as the chief guest.

The event was attended by KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, faculty members, administrative officers, and staff.

In his address, Brigadier (R) Musaddiq Abbasi referred to the speech of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on August 11, 1947, where he declared that corruption is poison for society.

He emphasized that corruption is like termites that destroy institutions and society from within. He shared that approximately 80-85% of corruption is driven by necessity, termed "Need-Based Corruption," while 15-20% occurs due to greed, known as "Greed-Based Corruption." He revealed that nearly $10 billion is transferred abroad annually by corrupt individuals.

Brigadier (R) Musaddiq Abbasi stated that as a nation, we should look up to the eagle as our role model, which avoids consuming unlawful (haram) food and believes in a simple lifestyle.

In contrast, a vulture survives on the prey of others, symbolizing greed and corruption. He emphasized that the concept of "Amr Bil Ma'ruf wa Nahi Anil Munkar" (enjoining good and forbidding evil) is the best way to eliminate corruption.

He added that, just as prevention is better than cure, precautionary measures are vital in combating corruption.

He pointed out that Pakistan ranks 29th in the world for corruption, which is a matter of serious concern and a significant challenge.

He highlighted that in countries where the rule of law prevails, corruption is almost non-existent, and these nations are prosperous and developed.

Conversely, societies where corruption is widespread are on the decline. He stressed the importance of ensuring halal (lawful) earnings in raising children, as neglecting this can have detrimental effects on future generations. He quoted the Quran, which instructs individuals to protect themselves and their families from the fire of Hell, emphasizing that the fight against corruption must begin at home.

He concluded by saying that punctuality and hard work are the keys to success, emphasizing that success requires effort in the right direction. He stressed that no nation can develop without honesty, which is the guarantee of success.

He urged everyone to read and understand the Quran, make it an integral part of their lives, and follow its teachings. The goal of the Quran is to learn, understand, spread, and act upon its guidance.

Sargodha:A man was killed while two sustained bluet injuries after firing between two opponent groups here in the area falling in jurisdiction of Shahpur Sadar Police jurisdiction here on Wednesday.

Police said that Bilal Haider, Murtaza, Nasir, Haider Hussain, Wahab, Shakeel and Rauf had been running a dispute.

On the day of the incident, after exchange of harsh words, they opened fire on each other, in which Murtaza was killed while Haider Hussain and Nasir sustained bullet injuries.

Police and Rescue 1122 reached the spot shifted the body and injured to hospital for necessary legal formalities.

Further investigation was under way.

Peshawar:The Social Welfare Board of the Department of Labour, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced skill development courses for youth on Wednesday.

These courses will be launched at various institutes of the Workers Welfare Board across different districts of the province in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).

The offered courses are including Internet of Things (IoT) system development and application, household appliances repair and maintenance, graphic design (print media), general electrician, office management, and E-commerce.

These skill development courses will be taught at Government Monotech Institute, Aman Garh, Government Metric Tech Institute, Haripur, Government Polytechnic Institute, WWB, Dera Ismail Khan, Government Metric Tech Institute, Peshawar, Government Metric Tech Institute, Labour Colony Aman Garh and Government Monotech Institute, Bannu.

The duration of the said courses will be 3 to 6 months.

Peshawar:The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's Standing Committee on Energy and Power on Wednesday expressed strong concerns and frustration over the lackadaisical attitude of civil bureaucracy in attending the Committee's meetings.

The meeting, chaired by MPA Dawood Shah, was held in the Assembly Conference Room and attended by committee members, including MPAs Arbab Usman, Arbab Zarak Khan, Shafi Jan, Mehboob Sher, Taj Muhammad Tarand, Rehana Ismail, Adnan Khan, Gul Ibrahim and Abdul Salam.

Despite of the importance of the meeting's agenda, the Secretary for Energy arrived an hour and a half late. The Committee regarded this as a blatant act of negligence and disrespect toward the elected representatives.

Disappointed by the behavior, Chairman Dawood Shah adjourned the meeting in protest and announced that a privilege motion would be filed against the Secretary.

Speaking on the occasion, Dawood Shah remarked, "Parliamentary affairs are the backbone of democracy and it is imperative for all government officials to respect them. Such irresponsible conduct undermines democratic values and will not be tolerated in the future."

This is the second such incident within a month. Earlier, a protest was held during the meeting of the Standing Committee on Health over the absence of the Secretary and DG.

The Committee voiced its concern that such behavior not only compromise the sanctity of the parliamentary process but also hinders efforts to address public issues effectively.

Muzaffarabad:The construction of the Rattoha Haryam Bridge on Mangla lake in Southern Mirpur district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir ( AJK), that had been inactive for the past ten years and was lying dormant, has resumed at full speed due to the efforts of the Prime Minister Choudhry Anwarul Haq.

With a cost of over 9 billion rupees, this multi-purpose bridge had been stalled due to various legal, technical, and financial issues. However, Prime Minister Choudhry Anwarul Haq has finally proven that, with determination, wisdom, and strategy, the impossible can be made possible.

The national company responsible for the bridge's construction has made all arrangements to begin work and offered prayers for the project's success. The engineers and technicians are ready to enter the dam's waters at any time to construct the pilars of the bridge.

Prime Minister Haq prioritized this project and included it in his daily progress checklist. He ensured that the revised design and plan were approved by the relevant forums and awarded the contract transparently to the national construction company.

The company has now brought all the necessary German-made machinery, boats, and equipment to both sides of the bridge. They have also built workers' colonies equipped with residential rooms, bathrooms, a mosque, and emergency medical facilities.

Additionally, to keep the machinery operational and secure, a yard has been constructed. The company has also set up heavy-duty electrical connections and standby generators at the site.

Yesterday, a prayer ceremony was held to mark the official start of the work, attended by the management, labor, government officials, political and social figures, as well as senior management from the company in Islamabad and experts from the swampy areas.

The company is now fully committed to the bridge's construction. The experts and technicians are ready to enter the water for excavation of the pillars and the construction of the deck.

The Prime Minister's advisor, Colonel (R) Mohammad Maroof, is determined that the bridge will be completed by next year, after which it will prove to be a game-changer for the region.

Sargodha:Light rain with winds on Wednesday afternoon turned the weather cold.

According to Meteorological Department, more light rain is expected in the city in next 24 hours while maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded 21 degrees centigrade and 7 degrees centigrade, respectively.
