WWB to launch skill development courses for youth

Peshawar:Workers Welfare Board (WWB), Labour Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wednesday announced launching of skill development courses for youth in various districts.

The courses would be launched at various institutes of WWB across different districts of the province in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).

The offered courses include Internet of Things (IoT) system development and application, household appliances repair and maintenance, graphic design (print media), general electrician, office management and E-commerce, said a press release.

District steering committees on education and health meets

Abbottabad:Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning, Maliha Sehar Wednesday chaired the District Steering Committees on Education and Health meetings to review performance and implement improvements.

In the education meeting, key decisions focused on enhancing school facilities, including water, electricity, and staff deployment. Modern teaching methods were emphasized, and the Education Monitoring Authority provided updates on prior directives.

The health meeting reviewed the performance of the Health and Population Welfare Departments. Updates on previous resolutions were presented, with a focus on service delivery improvements. Both sessions included officials from respective departments, who shared recommendations for further progress.

Sports gala, cultural day celebrations at UET

Lahore:The Department of Computer Science at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized its annual sports gala and cultural day in a vibrant and festive manner.The event showcased the diverse cultures of Pakistan's all provinces, with students representing their respective cultural traditions. Female students also set up stalls featuring henna, bangles, flower garlands, and jewelry.Vice Chancellor UET Prof Dr Shahid Munir, inaugurated the Sports Gala.He stated that "The culture of any nation is deeply rooted in its people. Celebrating one's culture is the best way to pay tribute to our ancestors. It is crucial for young people to stay connected with their cultural heritage to keep traditions alive."He further emphasized that healthy minds are the foundation of a healthy society and that such activities are essential for students' physical, mental, and social development.The event was attended by Deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of students. Va rious sports competitions were held, with students participating enthusiastically. The event provided students with a great opportunity for entertainment, learning, and understanding cultural heritage.

Minister calls for SOPs to combat dengue outbreaks

Lahore:Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir has instructed the

preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for dengue prevention, taking into account weather conditions and temperature patterns from the previous year.

He made these remarks while addressing as the chief guest at a training workshop for entomologists and dengue master trainers, held at the Institute of Public Health (IPH) under the Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare on Wednesday.

During his address, the minister directed health department CEOs to establish laboratories in every district for diagnosing dengue larvae samples. He also announced plans to introduce a new policy aimed at achieving effective results in dengue prevention this year.

Khawaja Imran Nazir assured that measures to combat dengue would not compromise the natural environment. He emphasized the need for public awareness, stating that while the government can provide guidance, it is the responsibility of citizens to ensure the cleanliness of their homes and surroundings. He called on the public to support the government in its efforts to eradicate dengue.

The workshop included briefings on the causes and factors behind dengue outbreaks, vector surveillance techniques, and detailed sessions on biological and chemical control, laboratory testing, medication use, spray techniques, fogging, and Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).

At the conclusion of the workshop, Khawaja Imran Nazir distributed certificates to dengue master trainers. Prominent attendees included Dean IPH Professor Saira Afzal, Director CDC Dr. Yadullah, and Dr. Shaiban.

Wafaqi Mohtasib inaugurates Regional Office at Muzaffarabad

Islamabad:Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman), Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has asked the heads of federal agencies in AJ and K to ensure speedy resolution of public complaints. He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Wafaqi Mohtasib's Regional Office, Muzaffarabad.

He said that this Office is continuously reaching out to the public, as a result, large number of people are contacting this forum for redressal of their grievances. The outgoing year 2024, he said, witnessed a record increase in the receipt and disposal of complaints. Now with the opening of the Regional Offices at Muzaffarabad and Gilgit Baltistan, it has presence in 24 cities of the country, adding that more Regional Offices are expected to be opened later this year.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by a large number of senior officials belonging to AJ and K, apart from the heads of federal agencies, members of civil society and media. Speaking on the occasion, the Wafaqi Mohtasib further added that the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat during the outgoing year 2024, received as many as 226,372 complaints, out of which 223,171 have been disposed of, indicating an increase of 17% and 16% in the receipt and disposal of the complaints respectively over the figures of 2023.

'Our Investigating Officers travelled across the length and breadth of the country and held Khuli Katcheries to dispense administrative justice at the doorsteps of the people, observing that Wafaqi Mohtasib's Office is truly a poor man's court', he added.

He also presided over a meeting with the heads of federal government agencies, wherein he called upon them to ensure speedy redressal of public complaints. Later, he also addressed a well-attended press conference, wherein he lauded the constructive role being played by press and media and said that it remained instrumental in raising public awareness regarding the availability of this useful forum for prompt redressal of public complaints. He invited them to stand by the institution to enhance awareness for the general good of the people at large.

AJK President lauds Turkiye unwavering support to Kashmir cause

Mirpur (ajk):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, while appreciating Turkiye's consistent support to the Kashmir cause, has expressed the optimism that Turkiye would continue its unwavering support to Kashmiris' legitimate struggle for right to self determination.

He expressed these views while talking to the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Irfan Neziroglu who called on him at the the AJK Presidency in Jammu Kashmir House on Wednesday.

The Turkiye Embassy's Consular Yaprak Ece was also present. Speaking on the occasion, the President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry said that the Kashmir issue was not only the issue of the Kashmiri people but also of the Muslim Ummah.

Apprising the Turkiye ambassador of the prevailing political and human rights situation in the Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the president said that the Indian government's relentless repression of political and human rights in the region has devastating impacts on the Kashmiri society.

"Along with suppression of political rights people in occupied Kashmir have been deprived of religious rights and freedoms", he said, adding that even Kashmiri Muslims were not allowed to offer Friday prayers.

He said that the bloodshed of innocent civilians, particularly the youth at the hands of occupation forces, was going on unabated.

Terming massive military concentration as the main cause of rights violations in the region, he said, "India's nine lakh army is committing genocide against Kashmiris".India, he said, was not only violating human rights in occupied Kashmir but religious minorities in India have been the worst victims of Modi government's Hindu supremacists ideology.

The president said the Muslim countries, especially Turkiye, should play their much needed role to help stop the bloodbath of innocent civilians in the region and resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry also sought Turkey's role in the development of Azad Kashmir.

On this occasion, Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu assured his country's continued support to the Kashmir cause.

He said that Turkey has always supported the Kashmiris' just cause and called for an immediate end to rights violations in the region. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, invited the Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu to visit Muzaffarabad, which he delightfully accepted.
