Lahore: Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Mian Kashif Ashfaq said on Sunday that Pakistan’s strategic geographic location could transform the country into a pivotal regional trade corridor, linking South Asia, Central Asia, China and the Middle East.
Chairing a meeting of the PFC Board of Directors here on Sunday, he stated that Pakistan offered vast potential in transit trade, warehousing and logistics services due to its position at the crossroads of major regional markets.
He urged the government to prioritize developing modern transport corridors, upgrading border infrastructure and simplifying customs procedures to facilitate the movement of regional cargo.
Mian Kashif Ashfaq noted that enhanced connectivity with Central Asian Republics would open new export avenues for Pakistani furniture, textiles, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals and agricultural products.
He called for stronger coordination among authorities to remove trade bottlenecks, adding that a long-term transit strategy and digital customs systems would attract investment and generate employment across the country.
