Quetta: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Balochistan has launched an immediate emergency response following an incident at Ziarat Cross, deploying a substantial number of rescue personnel, ambulances, firefighting vehicles and other relief resources to deal with the situation.
The emergency response was initiated on the special directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Relief Commissioner/Director General PDMA Jahanzeb Khan Ghorizai. Acting on the instructions of the provincial authorities, the PDMA Rescue Force was dispatched to Ziarat Cross during the early hours of September 1.
According to the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC) of PDMA Balochistan, the rescue operation began at approximately 2: 15 am, when a dedicated team was sent to the affected area under the supervision of Director Rescue Naveed Ahmed.
As part of the emergency deployment, PDMA has sent 12 ambulances, four fire trucks, two water bowsers and 24 trained rescuers to Ziarat Cross. The resources have been positioned to respond immediately to any developing emergency and to provide assistance to people affected by the incident.
The deployed ambulances are available to provide immediate medical assistance and transportation to injured persons, while the fire trucks and water bowsers have been placed on standby for firefighting and other emergency operations.
The PEOC said the rescue teams have been instructed to remain fully prepared and take immediate action whenever required. The personnel are equipped to undertake rescue operations, assist injured people and respond to any possible fire or other emergency arising at the site.
PDMA official said that the emergency response is being closely monitored through the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre. The authority is maintaining continuous contact and coordination with relevant departments and agencies involved in the response.
He said that officials have also kept the possibility of further deployment open, with additional relief and rescue resources ready to be mobilized if the situation requires. The ongoing coordination is aimed at ensuring that any emerging need at Ziarat Cross could be addressed without delay.
The deployment reflects the provincial disaster management authorities’ efforts to maintain a rapid emergency response mechanism and ensure the availability of essential rescue, firefighting and medical resources during critical situations.
The PEOC, PDMA said monitoring of the situation would continue and that rescue and relief teams would remain on alert until the emergency response requirements at the site are fully addressed.
