Attock: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) is continuing its crackdown on food adulteration and substandard food products across Attock district, these were on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to details released by the PFA’s Attock District Office, a total of 1,768 food outlets were inspected across the district during September.
During the inspections, 185 food outlets were fined a combined Rs 2.987 million for poor hygiene, violations of food safety protocols and other irregularities.
Furthermore, 15 water plants were inspected, and corrective notices were issued to the relevant units after their sampling reports failed to meet the required standards.
In addition, FIRs were registered against two food outlets over serious violations. PFA officials said that inspections and monitoring were continuing to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to citizens.
The authority has appealed to citizens to report complaints regarding food adulteration or the sale of substandard food products through the Punjab Food Authority’s helpline 1223.
