PFA establishes Healthy Diet Resource Centre at Training School


Lahore: Punjab Food Authority has established a state of the art Healthy Diet Resource Centre at PFA Training School under the directions of Chief Minister Punjab. The centre has been established to promote public health, safe food practices and nutrition awareness.



Healthy Diet Resource Centre will serve as a modern platform for training and awareness related to food safety and nutrition. Centre will provide the public with nutrition awareness, counselling, basic testing and health screening facilities, while awareness regarding diet plans and healthy lifestyles will be provided in accordance with international standards.



Director General Punjab Food Authority Raja Mansoor Ahmad said that the centre has been established to provide advanced training to food safety officers, food handlers and relevant experts. He said that the Healthy Diet Resource Centre will promote training and awareness regarding safe food and healthy diets.



He said that the platform has been established in collaboration with GAIN to promote nutrition and modern food safety models in Punjab. Various training programmes covering food safety, nutrition and healthy diets will be conducted at the centre, including specialized programmes on Halal, Food Fortification, HACCP, FSSC and modern food safety practices. He said centre will play an important role in promoting nutrition, food safety and healthy diets while enhancing the professional capacity of food safety experts and food handlers.



He further stated that Level 3 and Level 4 training programmes for Food Business Operators are also being introduced. Healthy Diet Resource Centre will provide a new direction to nutrition and food safety training initiatives in Punjab. He stated providing modern training facilities for the promotion of food safety remains a key priority of the PFA.
