PhD journalists of LPC honoured

LAHORE:In collaboration with Lahore Press Club (LPC) and Punjab Higher Education Commission, a ceremony was organized in honor of Lahore Press Club members who have accomplished PhD from different universities, here at Nisar Usmani Auditorium of the LPC.

Special guests Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr. Shahid Munir, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mehmood, Lahore Press Club President Azam Chaudhry and Secretary Abdul Majeed Sajid witnessed the ceremony.

Among the members who were awarded honorary shields and certificates for acknowledgement of their professional research work included Dr. Saeed Ahmad Ali, Dr. Waqar Chaudhry, Dr. Barira Bakhtawar, Dr. Tanvir Qasim, Dr. Arshad Ali, Dr. Shabir Sarwar, Dr. Akmal Soomro, Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Dr. Naveed Iqbal, Dr. Shah Nawaz Tard, Dr. Raw Shahid, Dr. Zeeshan, Dr. Arshad Bhatti, Dr. Rabia Noor, Dr. Qaiser Sharif, Dr. Mustafa Kamal and Dr. Mian Javed.

Dr. Shahid Munir while speaking on this occasion said, “We are happy that the members
of Lahore Press Club have a passion for higher education and research,” adding that all PhD club members deserve congratulations.

‘We need scholars and intellectuals in the field of media. Punjab Higher Education Commission will continue to patronize higher education and research, we will benefit from the services of Dr. journalists.” He appreciated the scientific and literary activities of the press club.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mehmood felicitated Journalists and LPC administration for organizing the event and said, “I am happy that a large number of club members from our university are Ph.D.”

President Lahore Press Club Azam Chaudhry said that working journalists’ engaging with the media has a peculiar thought to follow, adding that is one of the best ways to raise awareness and promote societal norms in a real manner, based on research, to benefit the public and policymakers.

Secretary LPC Abdul Majeed Sajid on this occasion said that the researcher or PhD journalists have the res
ponsibility and task to filter important issues from an increasing or volume of information which originate from busy and specialized domains.

He said the PhD journalists while having the professional competency should play role of passing news from the supplying facts to supplying senses in a more professional way.

Expressing special thanks to the Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission, he said, “We are thankful to PHEC and its encouragement of the PhD journalists.”

A large number of media persons, workers, officials and students also participated in the ceremony. Chairman Dr. Shahid Munir distributed honorary shields and certificates to the PhD club members.
