PHMA urges govt to extend deadline for filing income tax returns

District

Faisalabad: Central Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain and Zonal Chairman Mian Farrukh Iqbal have urged the government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2026 by at least one month.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, they said that the business community and taxpayers were facing difficulties in completing and filing their income tax returns within the existing deadline.

They pointed out that taxpayers, tax consultants and business organizations were under considerable pressure due to the large volume of returns and related documentation required to be completed within a limited period.

They said that the extension of the deadline would provide taxpayers sufficient time to complete their returns accurately and avoid unnecessary complications, penalties and inconvenience.
